On Thursday 19th January 2017 The Holgate Academy celebrated students’ achievement with an awards event. The Holgate Star Awards are to recognise those students who have a 100% attendance record, no lates and no minus points during the first term of the school year.
73 students and their families were invited to the event in Hillcrest Hall which was set out as an afternoon tea room. There was time for House Leaders, Senior Staff and Chair of Governors to talk to the students and their families about their accomplishments. At the start of the event students and parents were treated to refreshments and cake. This was followed by the presentation of the awards.
Each student received the Academy Director’s Award which were presented by our new Academy Director Ms S Forsey, alongside our Chair of Governors Mrs K Turner
Mrs Turner said, “It’s lovely to have positive conversations with parents about their child’s success and to hear students say how proud they are to be at The Holgate Academy”
There was some very positive feedback from parents including; Mrs Davis, “It was a really special event - really great idea” and Mrs Kemmett, “A fantastic evening thank you for the invite - makes you so proud as a parent”.
In her concluding speech Ms Forsey thanked all the parents for their ongoing support- she emphasised how important it was that students arrived in school every day, on time and ready to learn
A huge thank was also paid to Mr Diamond and Mrs Rawdin for organising the event and making Hillcrest Hall look spectacular.
Finally, and most importantly - a massive congratulations to our students for their achievements - you make us all very proud.
