The first whole school Celebration of Achievement took place on a perfect summers evening (well a dry evening anyway) on the 19th July 2017. All the students that attended were a credit to the academy as they arrived in full uniform. There were also lots of extremely proud and excited parents waiting to find out what award their children were going to receive.
The event started promptly at 6:30pm with Ms Forsey the Academy Principal making the welcome speech, followed by Mr Lees Assistant Principal who explained how the format for this new style event had evolved so that all rewards would relate to the Holgate pledges.
Then the evening was up and running with the key stage 3 awards. Each student that had won an award received it from their Faculty or subject Leader who read out a detailed description for each student clearly stating what a fantastic effort that had made throughout the year so that this made it even more personal to them.
After the key stage 3 awards there was a musical interlude. We had songs from Oliver which was brilliant - they were accompanied by Miss Durham on the piano which is always a great treat. They performed fabulously and were a credit to the academy. I always knew we had talented people at Holgate but this surpassed all expectation!
The final section of the evening was the trophies and shields event. These were presented by the House Leaders. Ms Forsey and Mr Lees completed the evening by thanking all parents and carers for the support they provide in working alongside the academy to help their children achieve and giving thanks to students, and teachers for the time and effort they had put in.
So on behalf of everyone who attended – Thanks for making it such a memorable evening - you all have high standards to meet next year!
It was a great evening and showed everyone there what exceptional students we have at The Holgate Academy.
