A Night with Jake and Elwood

On Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th of April 2012 The Holgate School put on a night of Blues, Jazz and Rock and Roll. Two fantastic audiences joined us for “A Night with Jake and Elwood” as we aimed to have them tapping their toes and dancing down the aisles.

Audiences were escorted back to the hazy days of the American music halls with some spectacular dance and music performances. “A Night with Jake and Elwood” allowed The Holgate School to showcase the finest talent in music, dance and drama our school has to offer.

Chilwell Army Barracks

On Tuesday April 24th, a group of Year 10 PE students headed to the Army Barracks at Chilwell to take part in a careers day.

The aim was to take part in as many of the fitness and training activates that were available; these included a grenade run, a 30 minute training session led by army officers, shooting ranges and many obstacle courses.

The Students arrived at the barracks and were met by army officials who led them to the fitness and training arena where everyone got involved.

Doncaster Racecourse

On Friday the 27th April 35 pupils along with Miss Amies, Mr Bailey and myself went along to Doncaster Racecourse for a day of Maths.

Upon our arrival we were met by an ex-jockey who lead us to a private box that had been very kindly reserved for us. During the day we had plenty of opportunities to discover what actually goes on at a racecourse working in the weighing room, parade ring, starting blocks and stables. Everybody got the chance to get involved in routines which regularly take place within their organisation.
