Key stage 4

Dance is an optional subject offered at key stage 4 only.

Why study dance?

This is a vocational course which is suited to those who wish to study the skills and techniques of professional choreographers work. Students will be contributing to the creation of performance pieces as a soloist and as part of a group.

What will I learn?

Students will develop a practical understanding of how performing arts dance work is created through the exploration of different professional’s work and dance styles. Developing their own performance skills and techniques through workshops, rehearsals and by continually reviewing their own development.

Over the two years you will study three components and be assessed in each of them.

Component 1: exploring the performing arts
Component 2: developing skills and techniques in the performing arts
Component 3: responding to a brief
