Next week (w/c Monday 26th March 2018), Explore Learning will be in school to launch the National Young Writers’ Awards competition! For the past nine years, the National Young Writers’ Awards have been encouraging children, ages 4-14, across the UK to unleash their imaginations and create some utterly brilliant, bonkers and captivating short stories. This year’s theme is ‘Heroes’, where children are invited to write a story about a hero in under 500 words. The deadline is 29th April (although entries on entry forms need to be submitted in school by Tuesday 24th April).

Pupils can enter online at explorelearning.co.uk/youngwriters or write their entries on one of the entry forms provided by class teachers. The national winner of the competition will be whisked off to Disneyland Paris with their family, and the winning school will receive £500 worth of books. These are not just any books, but £500 of books presented to the school by this year’s judge – David Walliams!

We will be launching the competition with Year 7, but pupils from Year 8 and 9 are welcome to submit their entries – just speak to your English teachers if you’re interested!

Let the competition begin…
