Through our pastoral system we offer opportunities for students to take on leadership roles at the academy. These roles of responsibility are great additions for your CV, university applications and when applying for employment.
We have the following roles:
- Each tutor group will vote for a form captain and vice-captain who will represent the form at the year forums held termly and take on responsible roles in tutor time.
- Each year group will have two-year forum representatives who will attend termly student forum meetings.
- The school forum will also offer the opportunity for key stage 4 representatives to co-chair the student forum during their term in office.
- In year 10, students are able to apply to be prefects offering a range of opportunities to demonstrate leadership and responsibility.
- Year 10 students may apply to be head prefects in year 11 and are voted for by the student body and staff body. Head prefects will also attend student forum meetings.
- Throughout the year there are a range of opportunities for mentoring younger students.
Additionally, students can take on a range of other roles such as becoming sports ambassadors (helping at fixtures across the county) or can represent the academy at events for the public such as our open evenings and tour days.
