Homework is any task that involves learning beyond the classroom. At The Holgate Academy, homework serves two distinct purposes: it prepares students for assessment, which includes academy assessments and/or external exams such as GCSEs. Students will be set revision tasks via Reach More Parents by Weduc. Secondly, homework helps develop students’ independent learning skills and intellectual curiosity. Students are provided with open-ended tasks as homework from each subject department.
All students are expected to complete homework outside of the timetabled curriculum. This supports their independent learning and enables them to study subjects in greater depth, as well as test their understanding.
All resources required for homework are available through the student portal. If a student cannot access this from home, they can use the library after school or request printed materials.
