The Holgate Academy is proud to announce we have achieved Investors in Pupils status

At The Holgate Academy we are extremely proud to announce that we have achieved the Investors in Pupils award and we are now officially accredited.
On Monday 10th July the academy welcomed two assessors who experienced a typical day at The Holgate Academy. The assessors were taken on a tour of the academy before meeting with senior leaders, governors, parents, teaching and non- teaching - staff and most importantly over 45 of our fantastic students.
During the meetings the assessors asked detailed questions about all aspects of academy life. They were very impressed with the answers they received especially, and commented on the passion displayed by the students. The students enthusiasm shone through- they wanted to continue to work together to make the school a better place for everyone.

Year 6 to 7 Transition Days 2017

Thursday 6th and Friday 7th July saw The Holgate Academy host a record number of year 6 pupils that will be joining us in September. The event was ran over two days to give the year 6 pupils the chance to get a real taste of life at The Holgate Academy and experience the full range of what the academy will offer them in year 7.
The first day began with a lot of nervous faces from the parents as they dropped off the year 6’s at Hillcrest Hall ready for the day’s activities. The pupils themselves sat with nervous excitement as they waited for their school friends to arrive and join them. The morning allowed the pupils to meet some key members of staff including the Academy Director and House Leaders, as well as going through the plan for the two day experience.

Congratulations to Benjamin Davies - Trampolining Success

After going through 3 rounds of qualifying including competing in the Regional Team Finals at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham in June, Benjamin got through to the National Finals of the NDP Trampolining competition on the 8th July at the Telford International Centre.
Benjamin was one of only 6 bouncers from the UK who qualified for the final, and after the required 2 rounds Benjamin came 3rd and was awarded the bronze medal.
Benjamin has done amazingly especially as he has only been bouncing for around 1.5 years after Mr Ellis recognised his potential during year 8 PE lessons.  He is now moving up 2 difficulty levels in training ready for next year's first round of qualifications in November.
‘We just wanted to thank you for allowing Benjamin the time off school to attend the finals of the national NDP Trampolining competition this weekend. We are very pleased to say he came 3rd and won the bronze medal. We are very proud of him and thankful to Mr Ellis for recognising his talent and suggesting we get him into a club.  He has only been with the club for around 1.5 years and has come 3rd in a national competition which is amazing.’
