Students from The Holgate Academy submitted 150 entries for consideration for the Hucknall Number 1 Pit Memorial design ‐ 27 of these recently went forward to the selection process run by Reach out Residents and Ashfield Council. The number of student entries was praised and the high caliber of entries was also commented on. We are pleased to present the winning entry below, which was a joint effort from Ms Draper’s form.
Letter from Reach Out Residents
Dear Mr. Lees
Please convey the thanks of our Group to all the pupils and staff who have been involved in preparing designs for the Hucknall Number 1 Pit Memorial.
We were astounded both at the number of entries and also the very high caliber of the entries. Congratulations to the winning entry but be assured that we will be looking closely at the shortlisted designs and may be incorporating some of the ideas contained in those too.
It is hoped to have an event once the memorial is in place and we will of course keep you informed of progress over the coming months.
A big thank you to all concerned
Chair
