On 12 May, Ashfield Comprehensive School hosted the district athletics championships, and we were incredibly proud to have 41 students represent Holgate from years 8, 9, and 10 in a variety of track and field events.

Our students performed exceptionally well on the day, despite the weather reaching over 25 degrees. A number of students won their events and became district champions.

  • Emily – year 8/9 shot put
  • Rayyan – year 8/9 long jump
  • Harry – year 8/9 1500m
  • Jade – year 10 200m
  • Tegan – year 10 discus
  • Amanda – year 10 shot put
  • Jacob – year 10 100m and 800m
  • Charlie – year 10 100m
  • Jacob, Charlie C, Charlie H, Taylor – year 10 intermediate boys 4x100m relay

We are also proud to say that several students finished as runners-up. With all winners and runners-up progressing to the county championships, Holgate will have an excellent representation at the county event.

The students’ support for one another and their effort on the day was phenomenal. This encouragement clearly motivated and drove athletes to overtake others before the finish line on numerous occasions. A big well done to all who took part—you were a credit to yourselves and to Holgate.
