Sydnee-Rae, one of our year 10 students, was fortunate enough to complete her work experience with Ashfield District Council. The council provides services and information to the public in the Ashfield area, including social care, leisure, community, environment, health, traffic, the local economy, and learning.

During her placement, Sydnee-Rae spent time with a variety of teams, gaining insight into how the authority operates. On Monday, she joined the customer service team. On one of their busiest days, she listened in on phone calls in a training environment and explored the council’s online services, fees, and charges.

On Wednesday, she worked at the main reception, where she met customers and learned more about the revenues and housing side of the council’s work. The customer service team commented, “Sydnee-Rae was lovely and engaging with colleagues and customers alike.”

She also spent two days with the communications team, accompanying colleagues as they promoted the upcoming Films in the Park event on 21 June. She assisted with social media filming and was even featured in some of the content being produced ahead of the event.

In addition to working with the customer service and communications teams, she also spent time with teams at the depot and in the post room.

Executive Director of Operations, Charlie Edwards, said, “Sydnee-Rae did herself and the school very proud.”

Well done to Sydnee-Rae—it sounds like you fully embraced your work experience placement. A huge thank you to Ashfield District Council for providing this valuable opportunity.
