On Thursday 18 September, we were delighted to welcome the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) to deliver an assembly to our year 8 students. The RNLI saves lives at sea and is the largest of the lifeboat services operating around the coasts of the United Kingdom. They achieve this through lifeboat search and rescue, lifeguarding, water safety education, and flood rescue.
The purpose of the assembly was to promote water safety education and highlight apprenticeship opportunities within the RNLI, following their successful visit during our year 10 skills day last academic year.
All students were incredibly well-behaved and enthusiastic throughout the assembly. Following the presentation, they also had the opportunity to try out some of the equipment used daily by the RNLI to save lives.
A huge thank you to the RNLI for taking time out of their morning to come and support Holgate with the assembly. It is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to welcoming you again for more water safety education in the future.
