On Thursday 18 June, a group of our year 7 students attended a history trip to the Theatre Royal in Nottingham to see Horrible Histories. Horrible Histories explores the reigns of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, revealing historical facts and fiction about the Tudor dynasty, from the fate of Henry’s wives to the Spanish Armada.
Following the performance, our students visited both the Lace Market area and Market Square in Nottingham. Both locations are rich in history, with the Lace Market once being the centre of the world’s lace industry and an area of salesrooms and warehouses used for storing, displaying and selling lace.
The trip was incredibly worthwhile for our students and has helped them prepare for their year 8 studies, when they will be learning about the Tudor period and the Industrial Revolution. All students were extremely well behaved and were a credit to Holgate. A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise and attend the trip.
