Thank you for showing an interest in our academy which offers secondary education to the Hucknall community and beyond. Each year we receive increasing numbers of applications and recommend that you visit the academy on one of our open evenings or taster days to discover more about life at Holgate, to view our learning environment and to meet our students and staff.

The application process

Nottinghamshire County Council continues to administer the admissions process for The Holgate Academy and entry is still based upon the admissions criteria.

Key dates

The key dates for students applying to join year 7 in September 2027 are as follows:

The Holgate Academy open evening 2026: Tuesday 22 September 2026.
Secondary school application deadline: Saturday 31 October 2026
Exceptional late applications and changes to preferences: Monday 23 November 2026
National offer day for secondary school placements: Monday 1 March 2027
