Will I be in the same class as some of my friends?
We will always do our best to keep friends together. Primary schools have been asked to group friends where possible. If you’re not happy, please let us know during the transition period, and we can make changes before you start in September.
Where can we eat lunch?
During the transition days, you will use the Hillcrest canteen and have access to the quad and playing field. From September, you will be able to use either the Nabbs or Hillcrest canteen.
Can I bring money to buy food?
Yes, but we will not be able to give you change. Any remaining money will be added to your account for September. For example, if you bring £10 and only spend £2, the remaining £8 will be added to your account.
What time do we need to be at school?
During transition days, we run a slightly shorter day from 9am to 3pm.
What should I wear during transition?
You should wear your normal primary school uniform. There will be a PE day when you should wear your PE kit.
Where do I enter school?
All students should enter via the Hillcrest gate.
What if I am walking to/from school with a sibling?
If you are walking with a family member, you can wait at Hillcrest hall. Staff will be there from 8.30am and until 3.15pm for pick-up and drop-off.
What kind of things do we do in PE?
We do a mixture of sports in PE, including:

- Green and black shirt

Can we eat lunch on the field?
During transition days, if the weather is nice, we will open the bottom field. In year 7, there is a designated area for each year group. If left untidy, the privilege of using the field will be removed.
What food does the canteen serve?
At Hillcrest, it’s more grab-and-go, with paninis, rice pots, pizza, toast, waffles, and sandwiches.
At Nabbs, we offer more main meals, including curries, roast dinners, fish and chips, and sandwiches.
Can we bring in fizzy drinks or energy drinks?
No. These items will be confiscated. If already opened, they will be disposed of. If unopened, you can collect them from student services at the end of the day.
Can we bring our phones to school?
Although many parents prefer you bring your phone, if you use it during the school day, it will be confiscated.
