Students at The Holgate Academy, part of Diverse Academies Trust, celebrated this morning as they received post 16 results that will help shape their next steps into university, training and employment.

This year marks the first year of study in the academy’s new sixth form centre, which has given students an inspiring environment in which to learn, develop their skills and prepare for life beyond sixth form.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement and pride as students discovered the results of their hard work and look ahead to their future plans.

One of this year’s top performers was Suzanna, who achieved exceptional grades of A* in biology, A* in chemistry, A in maths and A* in EPQ. She will now progress to the University of Cambridge to study medicine. Suzanna said: “I’m really relieved and excited to start my journey at Cambridge University.”

Celebrations were in order for So Hang, who secured her place at the University of Oxford to study biochemistry (molecular and cellular) following her A* in biology, A* in chemistry, A* in maths and B in further maths. So Hang commented: “The hard work really did pay off, thank you so much.”

Cole also achieved a fantastic set of results – A* in maths, A* in physics, A in computer science and A in further maths. Cole is going to Loughborough University to study computer science and maths and said: “Seeing these results makes all the effort feel worthwhile. I am really grateful to everyone who helped me along the way.”

Special mention goes to Lexi-Rae, whose determination, hard work and dedication have seen her achieve A in English literature, A in psychology, A in EPQ, alongside a B in biology. She will now progress to the University of Leeds to study child nursing and commented: “It has been an anxious few weeks, but I am so pleased with my results.”

Reflecting on the results, Henry Diamond, principal, said: “This year’s results are a real testament to the determination and effort shown by our students throughout their time in sixth form. Their achievements reflect not only their academic abilities, but also their resilience and commitment to personal growth.

“I am delighted to see so many of our students moving on to exciting next steps, whether that is university, apprenticeships, or other chosen paths. I wish every one of them continued success in the future. The students have been supported by staff at the academy to achieve their goals, and their work in relation to this is much appreciated.”
