Tuesday evening saw a memorable fixture at Hucknall Town Football Club with a side of Holgate Academy staff and friends take on the might of a team of ex-professional footballers, all to raise awareness and funds for the epilepsy charity the Epilepsy Society.

Organised by Brandon Mills from Holgate, with invaluable support from Hucknall FC chairman Bob Scotney, tickets were made available to the community free of charge with the opportunity to donate to the charity should spectators wish.

With the evening proving popular with the local community and resulting in an impressive turnout, it’s hoped that further such fixtures will take place, reinforcing the strong links between the football club and the academy.

Brandon said of the event: “It was a privilege to be involved in supporting a charity which means so much to the players and spectators. The event as a whole was a great success and it was wonderful seeing Holgate students, staff and members of the community come together as one for a terrific cause.”
