Students at The Holgate Academy in Hucknall, part of Diverse Academies, were celebrating this morning as they received their GCSE results.

Over 53% of all grades were at grade 4 and above, with 58% at grade 4 and above in English and 51% at grade 4 and above for maths. Overall, attainment at the academy has risen steadily from 2018’s results.

Top performing students achieved 15 grade 9s, and in total, 164 grades were awarded at the highest levels of 9-7.

These include Christy Morgan who gained superb results of two grade 9s, three grade 8s, a Distinction*, two grade 7s, one A, and two grade 6s. She said she was both “thrilled and overwhelmed” on receiving her results and will be continuing into Hucknall Sixth Form Centre to study French, maths, physics and art.

Tiffany Shelton also performed particularly well and achieved top marks of three grade 9s, two grade 8s, three grade 7s, one grade 6, one Distinction* and one A grade. Tiffany, who will be continuing into further study, said: “I am over the moon with my results and so relieved that all the hard work paid off.”

Another high achiever was Fraser Street with one 9 grade, one Distinction*, one grade 8, three 7s and three 6s. Fraser will be heading to Hucknall Sixth Form Centre to take his A Levels. Fraser said: “I am so pleased with my results and really looking forward to starting sixth form in September.”

The Holgate Academy Principal, Sue Forsey, said: “Congratulations to all our year 11 students who have worked tremendously hard to achieve their GCSE results. Many of these are now moving on to further study or work related learning, or have secured a place at the Hucknall Sixth Form Centre. We are all very proud of our students and wish every one of them the very best of luck in their futures, whether they are leaving us today or joining us next year for post 16 studies.”

Student numbers at Hucknall Sixth Form Centre are growing year-on-year, with the centre having an excellent reputation in the Hucknall community and beyond. The academy invites any students yet to secure a place with a post 16 provider for this September or is considering their post-GCSE options to visit or email for more information.
