We are incredibly proud of our students who recently represented Holgate at the annual school games athletics competition, held at Ashfield School.
Competing against schools from across the area, our students demonstrated outstanding effort, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the day. Their hard work and determination resulted in some fantastic achievements:
- Year 7 – 4th overall
- Year 8 – 1st overall
- Year 8 relay team – 2nd place in the relay event
Alongside these fantastic team achievements, there were also some outstanding individual performances. Year 8 student Holly smashed her personal best by an incredible 24 seconds in her track event, while Georgie (also in year 8) produced a fantastic finish, moving from 4th place to 1st place in the final 100 metres of her 300-metre race.
A huge congratulations to both students on their determination, hard work and achievement. Their performances are a wonderful example of the commitment and resilience shown by all of our athletes.
Not only did our students achieve fantastic results, but what impressed staff most was the way they conducted themselves throughout the competition. Every student displayed determination, teamwork and solidarity, supporting one another and representing The Holgate Academy with pride both on and off the track.
The positive attitude shown by all competitors reflects the values we strive to foster across our academy, and we could not be prouder of the way our students embraced the challenges of the day.
Congratulations to everyone who took part, and thank you to the staff who supported the event. We also extend our thanks to Ashfield School for hosting another successful and enjoyable school games athletics competition.
Well done, team Holgate! We look forward to seeing what you achieve next.
