Last week, some of our year 10 science students kicked off the week in style by participating in a National Space Academy workshop. This exciting physics workshop covered topics such as space rockets and was organised by the National Space Centre.
Throughout the workshop, students investigated different propulsion fuels for rockets, culminating in a group activity where they created their own rockets using hydrogen and oxygen to form water. They were then able to connect this experiment to potential space adventures of the future, including the possibility of altering the path of asteroids.
The workshop concluded with a discussion on roles and careers for future scientists in the context of the British Space Industry, providing a perfect opportunity for those who aspire to work within this field.
Students were highly engaged and motivated throughout the workshop, especially enjoying the practical element, where they were able to test their rocket-making skills. A huge well done to all involved. I think we may have some future astronauts among our year 10 students!
