Earlier this week, a tree was planted at Leen Mills Primary School to honor Oliver’s memory. The Principal, year 7 staff and many students who knew Oliver were present for the event.
Mrs Goldson, the headteacher of Leen Mills, welcomed everyone and shared heartfelt words about Oliver, speaking of his warmth and how he could light up any room he entered. Mrs Goldson also reflected on how Oliver helped build a close bond between Leen Mills and Holgate, which used to feel like just “the secondary school on the other side of Hucknall” but now feels like family.
After the speech, attendees were invited to tie ribbons to the tree in the colours of Oliver’s favourite sports teams, including those he played for.
