Why study A level design technology – product design?
Students on the design technology course learn key skills and knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials to produce usable and aesthetically pleasing products. You will learn about everyday objects and the technology used to produce them, developing and producing your own designs. The course gives you the opportunity to show off your abilities to meet a brief in an imaginative manner, researching design and production issues, proposing solutions and ideas to manufacture solutions to a high quality.
This is an exciting and creative course to support students who are aspiring to careers in architecture, product design, industrial design and engineering.

How will A level design technology – product design be delivered?
Students will follow the iterative design process, researching a problem, collecting research, proposing ideas and manufacturing solutions to a high quality. They will work with a client or user to complete this project. The work is presented in the form of a design portfolio and supporting product.
The exam element of the course covers many aspects of design and technology. It requires students having a knowledge of material properties, manufacturing processes and periods of design history etc.
