An engaging day was had at The Holgate Academy with a number of local employers coming in to share the skills of their trade with our year 10 students.
The quad on the Hillcrest site was transformed into a building site yesterday (Monday 17 July) and surrounding classrooms housed everything from product design to animal care.
Students worked really hard. There was a competitive edge to some of the tasks, not least the tower building and product design challenges.
Many thanks to all the organisations involved: Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, the Royal Air Force, West Notts College, Ashfield District Council, The Plastek Group , ITP Aero and The ASK Programme.
Sophie McKenna, Assistant Principal at The Holgate Academy, said: “Skills Day is always a highlight of the year, Students develop a range of employability skills and make contact with local employers.
“It is just one part of our comprehensive programme of employer engagement opportunities that students across the Academy experience.
“Students interacted so positively. They were complimented by employers for their engagement with the activities.”
