On Tuesday 10 March, as part of the Speakers for Schools programme, we were delighted to welcome James Sanderson, Chief Executive Officer at Sue Ryder and former Director of Community Health Services and Personalised Care for NHS England, to deliver a speech to our year 9 students. The purpose of the visit was to support students in making their upcoming pathway choices.
James delivered a fantastic assembly, talking about his varied career journey – from an underprivileged background, to training as a dancer, working in the motor industry, moving into the charity sector, and eventually into the NHS. He also spoke about health and wellbeing, as well as the history of medicine. Students also had the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the assembly.
All of our students behaved exceptionally well throughout and showed great enthusiasm, especially during the Q&A session. A huge thank you to James for taking the time to visit Holgate and for delivering such an excellent and inspiring assembly for our students.
