Homework is any task that involves learning beyond the classroom. At The Holgate Academy, homework serves two distinct purposes.
First, it prepares students for assessments, which includes internal academy assessments or external exams such as GCSEs. Students will be set revision tasks via Reach More Parents.
Second, homework helps develop independent learning skills and intellectual curiosity. For these open tasks, students are provided with a menu of choices from each department.
All students are expected to complete homework outside of the timetabled curriculum. This supports their independent learning and enables them to study subjects in greater depth, as well as test their understanding.
All resources required for homework are available through the student portal. If a student cannot access this from home, they can use the library after school or request printed materials.
