We’re thrilled to announce that The Holgate Academy has regained the prestigious Careers Mark certification following the expiration of our previous award. This certification highlights the strength of our career guidance program, which supports students throughout their time with us and is another example of our commitment to preparing all students for successful futures.

The Careers Mark report commented on our partnership with the East Midlands Combined Authority Careers Hub and Sara Bardens, our dedicated Enterprise Advisor from Motus Commercial. It said this impressive link has deepened our students’ connections with the world of work by providing valuable industry insights and support.

The report also made note of our career-focused programme which is woven into every year group with students across the academy engaging in at least one careers module as part of the curriculum. The programme also provides students with hands-on experiences through off-timetable days and work experience.

Other key areas of careers and employability were picked up in the report also – our Futures teachers for example, was commended on the delivery of weekly sessions that cover not only career learning but also essential life skills, including citizenship, financial education, and relationship guidance. We are delighted to regain the Careers Mark in its recognition of our commitment to preparing all students for successful futures.

Careers Mark is only one of many accolades The Holgate Academy has. This year we were also successful in being awarded Artsmark Gold by Arts Council England – a testament to our culture of creativity and applied skills-based learning. We’re also on the path toward achieving the Diana Award as part of our dedication to inspiring positive change in our students.
