Last term, we were delighted to launch our exciting new Holgate reading challenge for our year 7 and year 8 students. This initiative aims to boost our students’ reading skills, confidence, and enthusiasm for books.
The challenge encourages students to read 40 books over the academic year, with awards presented along the way. Students can earn a bronze award for reading five books, silver for 15 books, gold for 25 books, and platinum for 35 books.
We are delighted to announce that after the first cut-off date at the end of November, 12 year 7 students and 32 year 8 students had already achieved their bronze award. In addition, one student has earned their silver award and book badge.
Well done to all students who have achieved bronze and silver awards so far. We look forward to handing out more awards soon and can’t wait to see how many students complete the challenge by reading all 40 books before the end of the academic year.
