During the last week of term, the University of Nottingham delivered two workshops for our year 7 and 8 students as part of the ‘Festival of Science and Curiosity,’ an event held annually that takes place across the country for two weeks every February.

Our year 7 and 8 students were nominated by their science teachers for the hard work and engagement they have demonstrated in their science lessons since September. The students worked in small groups to complete a series of challenges around the theme of a ‘STEM Superstore’ (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) to show STEM applications in everyday scenarios. This was followed by exploring and discussing the range of careers available within the STEM sectors.

Our students demonstrated excellent behaviour throughout both workshops and particularly enjoyed the practical elements. We definitely detected a competitive streak among some students, which was fabulous to observe. Well done to all who participated, and thank you to the University of Nottingham for taking time out of their day to deliver two first-class workshops to our students.
