A massive ‘well done’ to our year eight student Lucas for his three medal win at the recent British Taekwondo National Championships where he won a gold, silver and bronze in the British contest.

Lucas is now in the Great Britain under-14 male squad set to compete at the European Poomsae & Para Poomsae Championships 2023 at Innsbruck, Austria, from 24-26 November. Already a 2nd Dan black belt in the sport he’s worked hard at for eight years, he will also be taking his 3rd Dan grading in November.

Having participated in taekwondo for eight years and competed for five, Lucas became part of the Great Britain squad at the age of just eight years old. He trains at Hucknall’s Kang Han Martials Arts and Combat Academy under tutor Grandmaster Ian Lennox.

Lucas said: “Doing a martial art builds confidence and develops self-esteem, teamwork and determination.

“I’m looking forward to my Dan grading and competing in the European Championships in Austria this month.”

Lucas added that he is hoping to compete in the 2024 World Taekwondo Junior Championships next year and would eventually like to become a taekwondo Grandmaster himself.
