Recently, many of our year 10 students took part in work experience. Work experience can be incredibly rewarding and offers students the opportunity to develop vital skills for the future. It also helps them gain an understanding of the working world, as well as refine their career goals. Our students had placements across a range of sectors, including aircraft engineering, education, childcare, and the building trade.
One of our students, Zeko, was fortunate enough to spend his placement at Labosport. Labosport is the preeminent global leader in the field of testing, certification, and consultancy of sports surfaces, and is based in Hucknall. Zeko commented, “I really enjoyed my placement at Labosport, and it helped me gain an understanding of turf and sports surfaces. All the staff were very polite, kind, and welcoming.”
In addition, Laboratory Supervisor Scott Parkin provided some lovely feedback about Zeko: “Zeko’s performance, behaviour, attitude, and enthusiasm have been second to none. He arrived punctually every single day, appropriately dressed, and with an exemplary attitude toward working life. He has engaged with every member of staff—from lab technicians to office staff—and even conducted an interview with our managing director. He has been a pleasure to have around and has conducted himself admirably from day one. He showed a keen interest in what we do as a company and got stuck into all the testing methods and tasks assigned to him. He has been a credit to your school, and we wish him every success in the future.”
Well done to Zeko and all the students who took part in work experience. I’m sure your effort and hard work were valued by your employers. Also, a huge and heartfelt thank you to all the local companies that were able to offer placements to our students. Your support is greatly appreciated.
