At Holgate, World Book Day is always a memorable event, and this year certainly lived up to that tradition with a whole host of exciting activities.

The day began in style, with our fabulous teachers arriving dressed as their favourite book characters. They all looked amazing, featuring a variety of themes, including a Sleeping Beauty theme. Our teachers also shared their favourite books at the start of their lessons—a wonderful addition that allowed students to discover new reads and get personal recommendations.

We also held a “Guess the teacher’s bookshelf” competition, where students had to match the bookshelf to the teacher. Throughout the week, English lessons were linked to World Book Day, bringing literature to life in the classroom.

In addition to these activities, we hosted a book swap for our year 7 and 8 students, and each student was offered a free World Book Day book during their library lesson—a fantastic way to discover something new and spark a love of reading.

A massive thank you to all our incredible students for embracing World Book Day, and to our fabulous teachers who dressed up for this very special day. We already can’t wait for next year’s celebrations!
