Year 10 students had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and discover a wide range of career pathways during our annual skills day on Monday 20 July.
We were delighted to welcome 12 organisations from across the region, each showcasing their industry expertise and giving students valuable insight into different professions and skills.
Students took part in a variety of interactive activities throughout the day. Ashfield District Council introduced students to the fundamentals of bricklaying, while West Nottinghamshire College provided a number of workshops, including carpentry, sport and construction design. Vets for Pets demonstrated essential pet first aid techniques, including how to correctly apply a bandage, and Labosport engaged students with ball speed retention testing activities.
The event also featured representatives from a diverse range of sectors, including the RNLI, Hucknall Flight Test Museum, ATTFE College, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, Nottingham College, Trent Bridge Cricket, Nottinghamshire Police, and Central Medical Services.
Skills Day is designed to help students broaden their understanding of the opportunities available to them after school while developing confidence and practical skills through real-world experiences.
A huge thank you to all the organisations that gave their time to support the event and inspire our students. Their contribution helped make the day both informative and enjoyable.
We would also like to congratulate our Year 10 students, whose behaviour, enthusiasm and engagement throughout the day were outstanding. They embraced every opportunity and represented the school exceptionally well.
