On Thursday 13 November, some of our year 8 students embarked on an exciting visit to the Black Country Living Museum. The museum is an open-air site featuring rebuilt historic buildings in Dudley, West Midlands. It explores more than 250 years of history — from the Industrial Revolution to post-war prosperity — through immersive, living interpretation.

During the visit, our students experienced what life was like at various points over the past 250 years. They were introduced to the Industrial Revolution and even went down a coal mine, at times in total darkness, to see the harsh conditions millions once worked in.

They also took part in a school lesson from 1912 to understand how different expectations and education were at the time, with as many as 200 students being taught together in one small hall.

Overall, the visit provided valuable insight into what life was like across different periods in history. A big thank you to all who attended and to everyone who helped organise the trip. It was certainly a day our students will remember.
