All year 9 were involved in the careers day which involved them participating in three workshops; the tetrahedron a team building activity, impress the employer about how to write positively about our qualities and skills and swimming with sharks a decision making activity. The workshops were provided by Ideas4careers funded by Ashfield District Council. In the afternoon students also had the opportunity to meet local employers from NHS, Warburtons and J Tomlinson’s as well as college providers from West Notts College, Confetti and Nottingham Colleges. In the evening the parents of selected students were invited to meet with the local employers and colleges to discuss their child’s options. Whilst parents were few in number, all said the event had provided them with a focus to discuss their child’s future with them and was useful.
