Yesterday, we recognised Young Carers Action Day, an annual event that takes place in mid-March, aiming to support and raise awareness of young carers. It also provides an opportunity for everyone to call for better support for young carers and young adult carers and to bring about change.
We wanted to take the time to thank the young carers in our school community by encouraging them to ‘take a break’. With the help of some of our prefects, each young carer was given a voucher that entitled them to a chocolate bar and a carton of juice at morning break. A big thank you to our year 10 prefect students who gave up their free time to support Mrs. Wilford.
We were delighted to see many of our students attend with their vouchers. Did you know that we have over 90 students who are young carers in our school community? Thank you for the amazing hard work and support you give to others, and we hope you enjoyed your treat.
