Everyone at The Holgate Academy would like to thank the HSBC for their very generous grant of £3600 to help set up and run our garden project and we would also like to thank Keycraft Hucknall for their generous donation of plants for our garden.

On Tuesday 19th June 2018 a group of year 7,8 and 9 students from The Holgate Academy along with 6 volunteers from HSBC including Tracey Lidgett (governor at The Holgate Academy) began work on our garden project. We are hoping to create a place where wildlife can thrive, to encouraging butterflies, bees, birds and hedgehogs to set up home, as well as a calm sensory area that the students can nurture and take ownership of.

This project will transform an area of the school by creating a garden space students can be proud of. We plan to extend this project over time creating flowerbeds and planters across the whole school site. We would also like to achieve the RHS School Gardening Award along the way.

Finally, we would like to thanks the students who took part, you should be extremely proud of yourselves and the hard work you have put in to creating this garden! you represented yourselves and The Holgate Academy with pride. From everyone at The Holgate Academy we would like to thank the volunteers from HSBC for starting us on our way with this project.

An excellent example of the local community working together to improve our environment.
