Curriculum intent

The aim of creative iMedia is to equip students with the right opportunities to develop creative transferable skills for further study and employment including research, planning, working with others and communicating concepts effectively.

Creative iMedia will challenge students of all levels by introducing them to demanding techniques, encouraging independence and creativity, and providing tasks that really test their ability to produce high quality products.

Key stage 4

Creative iMedia/ICT is an optional subject offered at key stage 4.

Why study creative iMedia?

This course will suit students who have a genuine interest in ICT, media and those with a creative or artistic flair.

Students need to be self-motivated and able to organise their work effectively, in terms of presentation and the way it is stored. Students should also be willing to experiment with unfamiliar software and proactive in their research of skill development.

What will I learn?

The creative iMedia course gives students an opportunity to experiment with digital artistic expression. Students will have access to industry-standard tools and software such as Flash, Dreamweaver and Photoshop.

The course includes two mandatory units:

  • Creative iMedia in the media industry; and
  • Visual identity and digital graphics.

A third required unit can be chosen from a selection of the following subject areas:

  • Characters and comics
  • Animation with audio
  • Interactive digital media
  • Visual imaging
  • Digital games
